ROAR Digital Announces Betting Partnership with Oregon’s Spirit Mountain Casino

Latest News

Oregon’s sports betting market will soon welcome another major player as ROAR Digital, the joint venture between casino operator MGM Resorts International and online gambling powerhouse GVC Holdings, has found a local partner to launch its wagering product with.

ROAR Digital today announced that it has signed a long-term partnership with Oregon’s Confederate Tribes of Grand Ronde that makes the MGM/GVC joint venture the Tribes’ exclusive sports betting partner.

Under the terms of the recently penned agreement, ROAR Digital will operate a BetMGM Sportsbook at Spirit Mountain Casino, Oregon’s largest gambling venue. The retail facility is set to open door later this year.

In addition, ROAR Digital will roll out an on-reservation mobile wagering app and later on a statewide online sports betting product, pending regulatory approval.

Oregon was one of the few states that did not have to tweak their sports betting law following the strikedown of the long-standing federal wagering ban in the spring of 2018. The state was exempt from that ban.

However, it took a while before its first legal wagering offering was launched. That happened in August 2019 when the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indianas opened the state’s first retail sportsbook at Chinook Winds Casino Resort in Lincoln City.

In October, the state Lottery rolled out the Scoreboard app, which became Oregon’s first mobile betting app.

Bringing Leading Retail and Digital Betting Experience to Oregon

Commenting on their latest partnership, ROAR Digital CEO Adam Greenblatt said that they have found a great partner in the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde and Spirit Mountain Casino and that they look forward to working with the tribe and the casino to bring “a leading retail and online sports betting experience to Oregon.”

ROAR Digital was formed in the summer of 2018 as part of MGM and GVC’s efforts to capitalize on sports betting opportunities opening up in states around the US.

The joint venture between the two operators currently manages 13 retail sportsbooks across Michigan, Mississippi, Nevada, and New Jersey as well as a mobile sports betting app across several states.

BetMGM’s offering uses an exclusive sports betting engine that enables bettors to place their wagers quickly, safely, and seamlessly. BetMGM also offers online poker and casino-style games where these products are permitted by law.

Commenting on their partnership with ROAR Digital, Stan Dillon, General Manager of Spirit Mountain Casino, said that the joint venture between two of the global gambling’s “most recognizable brands” would bring “a world class sports betting offering to Oregon.”

Mr. Dillon went on that they are excited to launch their partnership with the BetMGM brand and that this alliance would allow them to extend their “established position as the Northwest’s premier entertainment destination.”
