Playtech Grows US Online Casino Footprint with BetMGM Deal in New Jersey

Latest News

Online gambling content and technology provider Playtech has further expanded its presence in the regulated New Jersey iGaming market with the recent launch of its casino offering across BetMGM’s network in the Garden State.

BetMGM is an online sports betting and casino gaming brand owned and operated by Roar Digital, the joint venture between US casino operator MGM Resorts International and European gambling powerhouse GVC Holdings.

The two companies formed their joint venture two years ago when the US Supreme Court struck down a federal ban on sports betting in a bid to explore together expansion opportunities in regulated wagering and gaming markets across the nation.

As part of its recent deal with BetMGM, Playtech has agreed to provide its new partner with access to its industry leading online casino content and related software. The games have become available across BetMGM Casino as well as Borgata Online and PartyCasino NJ. The latter two brands are, too, operated by Roar.

Playtech made its first foray in New Jersey (and the US as a whole) in August when its casino content went live with bet365’s operation in the Garden State. The gambling provider said back then that that was the first of many milestones it anticipates to reach in the coming months as part of its US expansion plans.

Deal Demonstrates Strength of Playtech’s US Proposition

Commenting on their further expansion in New Jersey and alliance with BetMGM, Playtech CCO Shimon Akad said that they are delighted to go live in the state with the leading operator and that the recent rollout is “an exciting first step in our partnership which will see us launch in further states with BetMGM.”

Mr. Akad went on to say that their strategic deal with BetMGM “demonstrates the strength of Playtech’s US proposition and the appeal of our gaming offering in the region as we continue to launch our pipeline of new US licensees.”

Playtech is able to deliver its casino content in New Jersey after it obtained regulatory approval from the state Division of Gaming Enforcement this past May.

BetMGM VP of Gaming Matthew Sunderland said of their partnership with Playtech that it has enabled their players in New Jersey to “enjoy casino games from one of the world’s leading suppliers of gambling software” and that this launch continues to build on the iGaming brand’s “current leadership in gaming in New Jersey.”

BetMGM has announced a slew of content supply deals with top European providers in recent weeks. Late in August, the operator announced an alliance with Live Casino specialist Evolution Gaming. The deal will see BetMGM as well as its sister brands in New Jersey, Borgata Online and PartyCasino, go live with the provider’s live table games and game show-style products. BetMGM will also be able to roll out Evolution’s titles in Pennsylvania and Michigan.

Last week, the operator announced that it has expanded its existing partnership with NetEnt to make the supplier’s content available in the regulated iGaming market of West Virginia. BetMGM launched its online casino offering in that state in August.
