Bringing the firm’s permanent layoffs at the Grantville property to 44 since Sept. 15

enn National Gaming officials have announced that the Wyomissing-based company laid off 18 workers from its casino and racecourse in Dauphin County, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.
The decision was made due to a loss of business from the coronavirus pandemic, spokesman Eric Schippers explained, and it brings the company’s permanent layoffs at the Dauphin County casino and racetrack to 44 since Sept. 15.
That included food and beverage, racing and table games employees, the Times Herald reports.
Whether there will be more layoffs will be determined based on business volumes and any new COVID-related restrictions going forward, Schippers said.
The casino and racecourse has 515 remaining employees.
The casino remains open for gaming and racing with limited food and beverage offerings.
The pandemic has also prompted Penn National to lay off hundreds of employees at casinos, racetracks and betting facilities in other counties and states.
