Microgaming Diversifies Casino Offering with New Poker Games

Latest News

Several months after it closed permanently the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN), Microgaming is ready to start a new chapter as a provider of online poker content with the launch of a brand-new range of poker games.

The new titles will be part of the supplier’s online casino vertical, it confirmed in a press release published earlier this week on its official website.

Microgaming announced in the fall of 2019 that after an extensive internal review of its online poker product portfolio and strategy, it had decided to shut the MPN network. The company said at the time that the platform did not match its vision for its future growth and that “for poker to be as successful as possible, we had to adopt a very different strategy and business model.”

The network closed for good this past May after being part of the online poker mix for 16 years.

Microgaming said this week that as part of its commitment to provide online gambling operators with access to a diverse portfolio of casino games, it is set to soon expand its existing library with “a new type of poker product.”

Hold’Em Poker First New Poker Release

The company announced that Hold’Em Poker will be the first in a full suite of new exclusive poker games that would join Microgaming’s portfolio of online casino titles.

Hold’Em Poker will represent a new “strategic direction” for the games supplier. The new game is being promoted as a “sophisticated brand of classic Texas Hold’em” offering that aims to immerse players in a realistic poker environment and deliver an exclusive online casino experience.

The game is a fast-paced Sit & Go tournament with a buy-in fee of €5 that is specifically optimized for mobile play. It features a new random prize pool wheel mechanic with a progressive jackpot that seeds at €25,000.

Microgaming will roll out Hold’Em Poker with select clients on December 1 as part of an initial exclusive release phase. The game’s networkwide launch is scheduled for December 9.

As mentioned above, Hold’Em Poker is the first of a series of new poker products that are set to join Microgaming’s casino suite in the newt few months, with follow-up titles such as Lucky Showdown planned to go live next.

Commenting on their new poker product, Microgaming CEO John Coleman said that Hold’Em Poker will “add a new dimension to our online casino vertical” as the first of a range of “fun and exciting poker games” that are set to join the company’s ever-growing platform.

Mr. Coleman went on to say that the games were crafted to appeal to both poker and casino players and aim to deliver “even further choice to our customers as we continue to diversify and innovate our content offering.”
