Christmas Sports Betting & Online Gambling News

Industry

Our final show of 2020 wraps up the year with online gambling news involving Sheldon Adelson! There is also sports betting news involving ESPN, Caesars, and Disney! Plus, more Coronavirus closures in Las Vegas and a new game review!

T’was a week before Christmas in all of its glory! And I’m Jay Todd with this week’s big story!

Yeah, but don’t worry friends. I’m not going to spend the entire time trying to rhyme!

On our last show of the year we lead off with a fat old man spreading holiday cheer and online gambling news! And no I’m not talking about Santa Claus. I’m referring to a gentleman who’s played Grinch to the online gambling industry far more than once. I am of course talking about the billionaire owner of the Sands Corporation Sheldon Adelson. Despite profiting billions from the casino industry over the years Mr. Adelson has opposed online gambling for decades now… claiming that his stance was to protect the children and the addicts from the evils of internet betting, when in reality he was simply trying to protect the profits of his land-based casinos. Which, by the way, in Nevada accept online bets!

Now Adelson is making online gambling news by dumping millions and millions of dollars to Republican politicians in the Lone Star state… all in an effort to bring casinos and online gambling to Texas. But why would he do such a thing if he so morally opposed to it? Why do you think! Grow up! It’s not out of the goodness of his heart, I can tell you that! It would seem that ethics are rather subjective when it comes to old Sheldon making some money. So after years of failed attempts at blocking online gambling Mr. Adelson apparently feels it’s time for him to profit from online gambling. And he’s not the only hypocrite we’re pointing out this week.

Also opposed to gambling for the past several years is Disney Corporation. In fact, back in 2019 their CEO actually came out and said that gambling and the Disney brand could not coexist. But times they are a-changing! And there’s money to be made! You see Disney owns ABC Television. ABC Television owns ESPN. ESPN has a deal with Caesar’s Entertainment for sports betting. And well, guess you can put the pieces of this puzzle together for yourselves. So now, not only are gambling and the Disney brand coexisting, they’re actually in bed together! Making it rain!

So nothing says Christmas in America quite like sacrificing your principles all in the name of the almighty dollar. When we come back from the break holiday news from Las Vegas, including more Coronavirus closures and more Coronavirus restrictions.

This week’s game review is for the Holiday Season online slot from our friends at Play’n GO. The five reels are covered with festive foods, drinks, and presents! You can play up to 10 lines with wilds, scatters, bonus spins, and a gamble feature! You’ll find this game review and hundreds more when you visit and subscribe to our YouTube channel. Plus, over the next week we’ll be releasing even more Christmas slot reviews!

Finally this week The Palazzo in Las Vegas just announced that they are closing down their hotel through at least December 23rd in response to a drop in tourism and the Coronavirus, of course. The casino will still be open and guests are still welcome to stay at their sister property the Venetian.

And as we reported just three weeks ago, the Governor of Nevada placed a 25% capacity limit on all casinos in the state through December 15th… which is today. The day this video is being released. However, just before we filmed this the Governor came out and extended that 25% casino capacity limit all the way to January 15th! So… Merry Christmas!

And with that giant yule log I’ll say peace on earth, goodwill toward men, yada yada yada…. I’m off for the rest of the year. You won’t see my happy ass until January 5th 2021! Here’s to hoping that the New Year brings us better news… maybe even a vaccine!? Merry Christmas, my friends.
