US Online Poker Set to Explode

Industry

Great news for US online poker and the players that love it! After two decades of insisting that the 1961 Federal Wire Act makes web poker illegal, the Justice Department has finally decided to abandon their stance… but not by choice. It took years of arguments and two court battles! But now, states are free to legalize and regulate internet poker, and to participate in Interstate poker pacts across state borders. That means we could be set for a new online poker explosion!

Hello all my friends out there! And what a great damn show I have for you today, because the news doesn’t get much bigger or better than this week’s big story! But first, a little history:

Back in the early 2000s we watched as online poker exploded all across America, but we also watched the US Department of Justice as they attempted to criminalize online gambling and poker using an archaic law from 1961: The Federal Wire Act. Originally passed during the Kennedy administration, the Wire Act was originally designed to fight illegal sports betting across state lines by organized crime.

Fast forward 50 years and the DOJ is still using it in an attempt to criminalize any form of internet betting. However, the New Hampshire lottery finally grew a set and sued the Justice Department back in 2019 over this issue… and they won! The DOJ appealed that decision, of course, only to lose again, meaning now the only card they have left to play is an appeal to the Supreme Court!

And now that we’re all caught up, the deadline to appeal to the High Court just expired last week, and the Justice Department issued a statement confirming that they are, in fact, giving up their fight against online poker and gambling! So what does that mean for the rest of us? It means, my friends, that a second explosion of online poker is set to sweep across the entire country! Only this time, this time it will be legal and regulated! And this time there will be no Black Friday.

It means that there are no federal prohibitions on interstate online poker, so states like Pennsylvania and Michigan, who have already regulated internet poker, are now free to form pacts that cross state lines! It means that even those states too small to regulate online poker by themselves are now free to do so, and to join those pacts with other states! It means, my friends, that my ex-girlfriend was right all along: Size really doesn’t matter!

This week’s game review is for the Aureus online slot. Jupiter stands by with lightning powers, ready to summon special features in this 3 reel, 5 row game from our friends at Microgaming. There are scatter symbols and up to 8 re-spins! Plus you can take this game with you on your mobile device. Find this review and hundreds more when you visit our YouTube channel!

Finally this week, believe it or not someone has tried it again! Tried what, you ask? Robbing a Las Vegas casino! They were not successful. A man attempted to rob the Cosmopolitan Casino… at 6 30 in the morning… on a Tuesday! And he didn’t even ask for cash! He wanted ten thousand dollars in casino chips! You know, I almost almost feel bad for him.
