On Monday, December 27th, 2021 the French national forward, Anthony Martial, has expressed to Manchester United’s football club that he wants to leave the team according to the head coach of Man U, Ralf Rangnick. Martial has watched himself continuously lose more and more playing time at Old Trafford as he had made only 2 – English Premier League (EPL) starts throughout this season and just 4 – starts over all competitions.

Rangnick explained that he, “spoke at length,” with the disgruntled 26 – year – old Martial last week., and that Anthony wants to leave Manchester United to get more playing time with another football club.

Martial turned out to be the world’s most high – priced teenage football player when Manchester United signed Anthony from Monaco back in September of 2015 for the cost of 36 – million pounds ($55.1 million at that time) which could possibly increase to 58 – million pounds.

Martial had a memorable debut performance after coming off of the bench in order to score an amazing solo goal versus Liverpool, and Martial has continued to score 79 – goals over the course of 268 – match appearances.

Martial is in back of Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, Jadon Sancho, and Mason Greenwood in the short list of football players that can play as a center forward as well as one of the attacking wide positions like a winger.

Rangnick explained that there is not much interest in Martial ahead of the transfer window in January of 2022, and Anthony could stay at Man U due to the fact that the club is currently involved in 3 – competitions. Martial last played for the French national football club back in September of 2021.

Media Statements

“He explained to me he’s been at Manchester United now for the last seven years and he feels it’s the right time for a change, to go somewhere else,” Rangnick said Sunday.

“I think, in a way, this is understandable. I could follow his thoughts but on the other hand, it’s also important to see the situation of the club.”

“It should not only be in the interest of the player, it should also be in the interest of the club,” Rangnick said.

“So far, as far as I know, there has been no offer from any other club and as long as this is the case he will stay.”
