AvatarUX oozes Halloween chills in Zombie aPOPalypse online slot with new MultiPop mechanic

Casino News

Just in time for Halloween, Malta-based studio AvatarUX has debuted its new MultiPop mechanic via Zombie aPOPalypse, a spooky zombie-themed slot that does an excellent job of showcasing the first variation of its wildly-successful PoPWins exclusive to the brand.

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if something went horribly wrong and swarms of brain-eating zombies infested our planet, this high volatility video slot provides the game version of what it might look and sound like if it did. In the middle of all the twisted action is a game grid that starts each base game spin in a 5×4, 2,048 ways to win configuration, with symbols paying both ways.

Gameplay & Symbols

Available exclusively for partners with integrations, the game has an RTP of 96.0 percent, bets range from 20 p/c to £/€40, and you can win up to 20,000x the bet. And, depending on the jurisdiction you’re in, you can go directly to the bonus/free spins round by choosing either the Buy Bonus for 100 bets or activating the ante bet option, which boosts the stake by 25 percent while at the same time doubling the chance of triggering free spins.

Game symbols include blood-dripping Q, K and A royal low pays; a half-eaten face, football-holding hand, and bloodied lock of hair mediums and equally disturbing quad of character symbols.

Low pays are worth from 0.1x – 0.4x the bet for landing three to five-of-a-kind symbols on adjacent reels in any position, while mediums pay 0.5x for five-of-a-kind and the highs are worth 0.75x – 2x the stake. Keep in mind that five-of-kind wins only pay one way. There are no wilds in Zombie aPOPalypse.

MultiPop Mechanic

The way the new MultiPop mechanism works is by locking a multiplier to every position that held winning symbols. The latter are removed and replaced, while the multiplier remains on the reels, increasing by +1 for every consecutive win that it is a part of, up to x5 in base gameplay.

If a cell reaches x5 during the base game, the Infectious Multipliers is triggered. What that happens, from 4 – 12 positions are randomly chosen to have their multipliers increased by +1.

Furthermore, in the base game you can trigger 10, 12, 05 15 free spins by landing 3, 4, or 5 brain scatter symbols, respectively. This mode sees the game grid grow to 5×5 in size with 6,250 ways to win and is locked that way for the duration.

What’s more, individual cell multipliers do not reset between free spins, which means they can reach a x10 max. Also, if every reel is filed with multipliers, the game awards +2 additional free spins.

Gamble Wheel

Prior to entering the bonus mode, players can try to increase the number of free spins by spinning the Gamble Wheel, where a winning spin awards more spins with 6,250 ways to win on each level. However, losing the gamble will send you back to the base game without having played the free spins.

Commenting on the new title and game mechanic, Nicola Longmuir, Chief Executive Officer for AvatarUX, said they are “incredibly excited” to launch Zombie aPOPalypse™, their first title incorporating the MultiPop™ mechanic.

“We are working hard to further expand our games portfolio with innovative and entertaining titles and with big multipliers able to land on every spin, and a pays-both-ways mechanic, we feel this game has plenty to get players excited about as spooky season commences.”

You’ll have a blast playing the latest launch from AvatarUX, which continues to enjoy incredible success of its innovative and game-changing mechanics, such as the trademarked PopWins.  So much so that the Malta-based studio was recognized at the 2022 EGR B2B Awards, taking home the Rising Star award.
