For a while now there have been rumors of professional Las Vegas would be getting a professional baseball team. And rumors that the Rio Hotel and Casino would be torn down in order to make room for a new baseball stadium! This week, we know at least one of those rumors is true! Las Vegas baseball will be a real thing, as MLB’s Oakland A’s have finally committed to move to Sin City, and yes they will get their brand new $1.5 billion stadium. But not where the Rio currently stands. So, no… the Rio is not being torn down. It’s just so dilapidated that it looks like it’s about to be torn down.

The new Las Vegas baseball stadium will be built closer to where the Excalibur and New York New York casinos currently stand on 49 acres near Interstate 15, across from T-Mobile Arena. It will have a seating capacity for over 30 000 people a retractable roof, and has an anticipated opening date in the spring of 2027. And by that time, who knows… the Rio may just collapse all on its own.

Also on our last program we mentioned that the Las Vegas Sphere would be opening this fall… and that the first concert at the new venue would be the legendary rock group U2! And now, we know the dates! The band will perform a total of five shows, starting Friday September 29th and running through Sunday October 8th. Tickets for U2 start at a $140 and they go on sale this week through Ticketmaster.
