Friday was the eleventh day of the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Horseshoe and Pairs Las Vegas. It was a busy day with three bracelets awarded and another five playing their earlier rounds out.
The first bracelet awarded today went to Brent Hart in Event #16: $5,000 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em. This was his first bracelet.
He was joined later in the day by Dylan Weisman who won Event #18: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha and John Racener who won Event #19: $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship. Weisman and Racener each had one prior bracelet to their name.
Elsewhere at the series, some of the biggest names in poker were fighting to join Hart, Weisman, and Racener in five ongoing events.
Gladiators of Poker Event Gets A New Chip Leader On Day 1b
Day 1b of Event #20: $300 Gladiators of Poker No-Limit Hold’em was dominated by the event’s new chip leader Dan Heimiller (3,875,000). Heimiller is a low-to-mid-stakes tournaments player with over $7 million in live cashes and two WSOP bracelets.
The Day 1a chip leader Caleb Levesque (3,145,000) put in a good showing, but has been moved down to the number three spot.
Some notable players who bagged on Day 1b of the Gladiators were Brett Shaffer (1,270,000), Ori Hasson (1,045,000), Men Nguyen (800,000), John Gorsuch (525,000), and Steven Wolansky (90,000).
Day 1c starts at 10 a.m. local time on June 8, with the field recombining after four Day 1s for Day 2 at 11 a.m. on June 10. PokerNews‘ traditional coverage will pick up the event then.

Brandon Wilson Leads Final 12 In Six-handed High-roller Event
Event #21: $25,000 High Roller Six-Handed No Limit Hold’em is one of the series’s most prestigious events. Short-handed play requires players to mix things up and the $25k price tag tends to attract the best in the game.
At the end of Day 2 of this event, 12 players remained, led by high stakes regular Brandon Wilson. This surviving dozen is all that is left of a field that started out 272 entries strong. These numbers put $6,392,000 in the prize pool and $1,405,641 up top for the eventual winner.
If Brandon wants to win that top dollar, he has to get through surviving sharks like former bracelet winners like the number two stack Stoyan Madanzhiev, Masashi Oya, Ognyan Dimov, and Justin Saliba who is the Day 3 tail-end Charlie.
The money bubble broke on Day 2. Unfortunately, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey busted shortly before reaching the money, but Nick Petrangelo (39th – $50,936), Chance Kornuth (38th – $50,936), Ethan Yau (27th – $53,483), and Erik Seidel (23rd – $64,249) all managed to earn a cash.
The third and final day of Event #21: $25,000 High Roller will start at 12 p.m. local time on June 8.

Lucky Thirteen Remain In $1,500 2-7 Lowball TD Event
Day 2 of Event #22: $1,500 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw took ten hours to play down from the 157 Day 1 survivors to the lucky final 13.
Topping the chip list going into Day 3 is James Williams (1,900,000). He is closely followed by Yuichi Kanai (1,825,000) and Sean Yu (1,555,000). Among the thirteen players who made Day 3, there are also two bracelet holders: Danny Wong and Ilija Savevski.
A total of 574 players entered the event, making for a prize pool of $766,290 prize pool and a first-place prize of $146,516. The money bubble broke at 81 players, with Alejandro Burzaco proving to be the bubble boy.
The day ended with bracelet winner Amnon Filippi busting in 14th.
Play will resume on June 8 at 1 p.m. local time at which point the tourney will play down to a winner.

Espen Jorstad Makes Day 2 Of $1,500 Shootout
The second and final Day 1 flight of Event #23: $1,500 SHOOTOUT No-Limit Hold’em saw a total of 574 players join the fight. This brings the total number of players for the event to 1,534.
There were plenty of big names on show on Day 1b, including Daniel Negreanu, Maria Ho, Anthony Potis, Landon Tice, and Erick Lindgren.
One table even had 2022 WSOP Main Event champion Espen Jorstad playing with bracelet winners Ari Engel and Harry Lodge.
Sixty players won their tables and advanced to Day 2. Jorstad was one of them along with other notables like Daniel Sepiol, Mike Dentale, Jared Jaffee, and Rainer Kempe.
160 players advanced to Day 2, which will be held in Horseshoe Gold at 1:00 p.m. on June 8.
Pot Limit Omaha H/L Championship Underway
Day 1 of Event #24: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Eights or better Championship (8-handed) was a big day. The event attracted 224 entries, generating a prize pool of $2,083,200 so far. With late registration available until level 12 (two levels into Day 2) there is still time for that pot to grow even bigger.
Sean Winter led the remaining 95-player field with 378,000 in chips after Day 1 ended. He was closely followed by Michael Duek (255,000) and Jesse Lonis (248,500) in second and third.
Some other notables who bagged up a stack at the end of the day were Yuri Dzivielevski (304,500), Ken Aldridge (238,000), Ben Lamb (152,00), Shaun Deeb (42,500), and Mike Matusow (20,500).
Some other players were less lucky. For example, Robert Mizrachi, Eli Elezra, and Daniel Negreanu all ponied up their $10,000 entry fee but failed to make it to Day 2.
Play will resume at 1 p.m. local time on June 8 at Horseshoe Event Center with the blinds at 1,500/3,000.

What to Expect on Day 12 of the 2024 WSOP
The 2024 WSOP keeps on trucking, with a slightly quieter day planned for tomorrow — there will be six events on the go throughout the day.
There will be two bracelets awarded. Event #21: $25,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em (6-Handed) will continue its action at 12 p.m. local time on Sunday, June 8. Brandon Wilson leads a star-studded field of twelve.
The other bracelet is for event Event #22: $1,500 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw (6-Handed).
There will be just one new event on Day 12 of the series, Event #25: $3,000 Limit Hold’em 6-Handed is set to kick off.
There will also be another Day 1 flight of Event #20: $300 Gladiators of Poker No-Limit Hold’em and Day 2s for a pair of three-day events. The Day 2s are for Event #23: $1,500 SHOOTOUT No-Limit Hold’em which will play out one more round of ten-man STTs and for Event #24: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship with Sean Winter returning to lead the remaining 14 players.
