Renovation Update from the MGM Grand

Guests will soon have more reasons to love the MGM Grand. The famous property at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip has been in the middle of a $300 million renovation project to its main tower, and the first upgraded rooms are open to the public. The project will eventually redo more than 4,000 rooms.

Another part of the remodel is the addition of 110 new suites, made possible by the transforming of about 350 standard rooms on the top floors, offering guests more spacious accommodations. Construction on those units began late last year and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The newly designed rooms were crafted by Gensler, a San Francisco-based firm known for its work on other Las Vegas projects at the Sahara and Golden Gate. MGM notes that the design draws inspiration from the disco era, blending vintage elements with modern touches to create a playful yet elegant atmosphere.

“We’ll have a room product that we can be proud of, and I think it puts us on equal par to just about any property up and down the Strip…” said Mike Neubecker, President and COO of MGM Grand. He added that this word is a “significant milestone” in the evolution of the MGM Grand.

In addition to aesthetic changes, the renovations bring several practical updates. Bathrooms now feature glass-enclosed walk-in showers, eliminating bathtubs entirely. Closets are equipped with illuminated interiors and full-length mirrors, while each room comes with a mini-fridge and a fully stocked mini-bar.
