DraftKings and Twin River Worldwide Holdings are set to enter a new stage of their Colorado sports betting partnership as a temporary DraftKings-branded sportsbook will open its doors later today at the casino operator’s Mardi Gras Casino in Black Hawk.
The temporary facility will service sports fans who want to place bets on various sporting events until the construction of a permanent sportsbook is completed later this year.
DraftKings and Twin River announced their Colorado wagering partnership earlier this year. The deal covered both digital betting and wagering services at a retail location at Mardi Gras Casino. The facility is scheduled to open doors later today.
It is located on the first floor of the casino and features eight self-service betting kiosks, a cashier window, and several large TVs located throughout the space.
DraftKings went live with a digital sportsbook on May 1, the very first day of legal sports betting in Colorado. The company was one of several dozens of operators that obtained temporary wagering licenses from the state Limited Gaming Control Commission.
The Centennial State was the sixth state where DraftKings has launched its offering since the US Supreme Court annulled a long-standing ban on sports betting in May 2018. It should also be noted that DraftKings’ sportsbook at Mardi Gras Casino is the seventh retail betting facility managed by the operator, joining locations in New Jersey, Mississippi, Iowa, and New York.
Permanent Sportsbook to Open Soon
Construction of DraftKings’ permanent sportsbook at Mardi Gras Casino is already underway. The facility is expected to open soon. When operational, it will feature a large bar, a TV wall, and access to a VIP Lounge area.
DraftKings’ sports betting facility at Mardi Gras Casino provides Colorado sports fans with the opportunity to place bets on all major US sports, including professional and college football, baseball, basketball, hockey, golf, auto racing, and more. The operator’s digital sportsbook offers an equally diverse range of sports available to wager on.
Commenting on their retail launch in Colorado, DraftKings Chief Business Officer Ezra Kucharz said that alongside their partners at Mardi Gras Casino they are “committed to providing a safe, immersive and entertaining gaming environment to ensure sports fans in Colorado have the most enjoyable experience possible.”
Twin River CEO and President George Papanier said that the partnership with DraftKings allows them to provide “an unmatched sports betting experience to Coloradans, not only with their mobile betting access, but also with this exciting DraftKings retail sportsbook location.”
Mardi Gras Casino is currently undergoing renovation. The renovated space is set to be revealed in the coming months together with DraftKings’ permanent sportsbook.
