Some Vegas Casinos Closed Until Next Summer

Industry

Many Las Vegas casinos have re-opened following the Coronavirus shut down. However, several Sin City favorites are still closed, with plans to keep them shuttered until at least June of next year. In online gambling news we also discuss the newest online casino in America… and it’s probably not where you would think! Links to gambling news stories, games reviews and special offers below.

Hey kids! Guess what time it is? Time to find out what’s happening This Week in Gambling! Our last program before I take a week off for the Labor Day holiday. So let’s get rolling with this week’s big story!

Recently, we told you about some popular Las Vegas casinos that still remain closed due to the Coronavirus. These casinos: The Rio, The Palms, Tropicana, Park MGM, The Cromwell, Eldorado Casino, Planet Hollywood and Main Street Station. Some of them will eventually reopen. Some of them may be sold. And some may never open their doors again.

Due to concerns over Vegas tourism and the ability to turn a profit, Boyd Gaming has now decided to keep their ElDorado casino closed until at least June of 2021. They’ve even had their gaming license put in “non-operational” status, and you know what? They’re not alone. Stations Casino has decided to keep four of their properties shuttered until at least June of next year. These four The Palms, Texas Station, Fiesta Rancho and Fiesta Henderson.

But you know, it wasn’t all doom and gloom this past week in Las Vegas. In fact, there’s one company that’s actually expanding! William Hill seems to be making the most of the opportunities afforded to them by this pandemic, announcing the opening of six new sports betting locations… all of them on the Vegas strip!

Brand new William Hill locations will be going in at the Palazzo, the Venetian and the Cosmopolitan. Interestingly enough this expansion also includes new Will Hill locations at the Palms and the Tropicana… two of the casinos that still remain closed.

Also, last week we discussed why you cannot find any of the big Vegas casinos online. If you’d like, you can go back and watch that show. But when we come back from the break we’re going to be talking about the newest online casino in America… and it’s probably not where you’d guess.

Before we get to the second half, I’d like to tell you about a new game review that we just released for the Thunder Arrow Jurassic Queen slot machine from our friends at Konami. This game comes with either a linked or standalone progressive jackpot worth up to ten thousand dollars. And landing six or more Arrow symbols triggers the Thunder Arrow feature, where all 15 positions spin individually and award bonus prizes and jackpots. You can find the full review and hundreds more when you visit our YouTube channel.

Finally this week, online casinos are legal in a select few states here in America… states like New Jersey and Pennsylvania. But the latest web-based casino just went live, and it’s in the state of West Virginia. Yes. MGM Resorts has added 30 casino games to their BetMGM App in the state, allowing resident there to have access to online blackjack, roulette and slots… including progressive jackpots!

So, at least we end the show on a positive note. And remember I’m off next week for my liposuction… or, um, just the Labor Day holiday.
