Hello players! How the hell are you? And welcome to This Week in Gambling! Your one-stop shopping experience for casino news and discount auto insurance quotes! And here is this week’s big story!

On march 17th we watched as the Coronavirus pandemic completely shut down the city of Las Vegas. Then in early June, we also watched as slowly Las Vegas casinos started to reopen their doors. And now almost all the iconic Sin City hotels and casinos are welcoming guests back. The Linq Hotel threw open their doors a couple of weeks ago, followed by the Tropicana who started welcoming guests back last week. Next week it’ll be the turn of Park MGM to reopen, and all this begs the question: What happened to the damn virus?

Oh, it’s still around… trust me. In fact Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas has just reported that testing among their employees and casino and hotel guests has resulted in nearly 550 positive results. And while that number may sound like a lot, it actually computes to just a little less than 4%. Wynn Resorts tested over 15,000 individuals and less than 550 tested positive, so there’s the math… you can do it for yourselves. Add to that the fact that the Wynn says 98% of the employees who did contract the virus did so outside of the work environment. And when you add on top of that the fact that only six hotel and casino guests tested positive… well, the numbers really don’t look that bad. But…

While Wynn Resorts did provide some of the most detailed numbers they were not the only Las Vegas property having to deal with the ‘rona. In fact, when you start adding up the new cases from just last month. Wynn wasn’t even in the top five! The winner for the most COVID-19 cases reported in Las Vegas for the month of August is……. The Cosmopolitan with over 300! Followed closely by first runner-up the Bellagio with more than 150 cases! And you can see the the rest of them listed there… with the Wynn way down at the bottom.

Now I’m not trying to tell anyone how to live their lives. Nor am I suggesting where you should or should not go on vacation. I’m simply giving you the best gambling information I can so that you can make the most informed decision possible. So don’t send me your angry emails… don’t leave me nasty comments. You might hurt the very few feelings i actually have left.
