MGM Resorts International unveils New York-New York renovation plans

Some three months after completing its takeover of the prestigious The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas property and American casino operator MGM Resorts International has reportedly announced that it will be renovating its nearby New York-New York venue.

According to a Sunday report from the online news domain at TheStreet.com, the New York-listed firm proclaimed that it is planning to spend approximately $63 million over the course of the next year so as to make the ageing Las Vegas development more reminiscent of the ‘city that doesn’t sleep.’ The operator also purportedly asserted that the transformation being overseen by Maryland-based HVS Design in partnership with its MGM Resorts International Design Group subordinate will involve every one of New York-New York’s 1,830 rooms and 155 suites being kitted out with ‘vibrant new designs and upgraded in-room amenities’ so as to make the 25-year-old enterprise more appealing ‘to travelers from around the world.’

True touches:

MGM Resorts International’s operating portfolio reportedly runs to eleven Las Vegas Strip venues including the Excalibur Hotel and Casino, Bellagio Las Vegas, MGM Grand Las Vegas and Luxor Las Vegas. The company purportedly pronounced that the upcoming New York-New York transformation is to see the 18-acre development with its 51,765 sq ft casino feature ‘design details that harken to New York City’ including faux exposed brick walls and ‘accent colors’ that run to ‘taxicab yellow’ as well as ‘big apple red.’

To further highlight the competitive nature of the Nevada casino market and Caesars Entertainment Incorporated has purportedly declared that it has begun rebranding its 2,100-room Bally’s Las Vegas venue under the Horseshoe Las Vegas name so as to tie in with a ‘brand known for gaming, poker and making it right for the gambler.’

Distinctive destination:

The renovation from Caesars Entertainment Incorporated reportedly involving an exterior overhaul, the debut of new restaurants and bars and a revamp of the 48-year-old Las Vegas Strip property’s 68,375 sq ft casino floor is set to be completed by the spring and follows American operator Twin River Worldwide Holdings Incorporated’s payment of $20 million in October of 2020 so as to acquire the worldwide rights to the Bally’s name. This Rhode Island-based firm subsequently rebranded as Bally’s Corporation while the new-look Horseshoe Las Vegas is to feature a range of iconic design touches encompassing tooled leather, dramatic colors and the signature gold horseshoe iconography.
