The Fontainebleau will finally open it’s Las Vegas resort this December, if all goes according to plan. And since this particular hotel and casino has been “under construction” since 2007, it had better be one helluva grand opening! It sits on the 24 acres previously occupied by El Rancho and the Algiers.

Billions of dollars have been invested into this property, which has changed hands a few times over the years. Now, the 67-story Fontainebleau is preparing to welcome guests to their 3,600 rooms and 420 suites, as well as their 56,000 square-foot spa and salon, and the 14,000 square-foot fitness complex.

The resort will have a casino attached, of course, which will be over 173,000 square feet. Plus, there will also be 550,000 square feet of meeting space for conventions, and 90,000 square feet of retail shops with 35 high-end stores spread over two floors.

Representatives for the Fontainebleau recently went before the Nevada Gaming Commission to detail their opening plans. Their decision on those plans should come during their scheduled meeting on July 27th. The resort will also need a second hearing with gaming regulators for final licensing before the planned opening in December.

Fontainebleau will employee over 7,000 employees, both full-time and part-time. A spokesperson for the company added that he believes the property will be fabulous for Las Vegas. “It’s definitely a little different than what was originally planned,”adding that “It’s much more upscale.”
