Billionaire Tilman Fertitta continues to be the top shareholder for Wynn Resorts Ltd. with a 10% ownership level, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing by the company dated Monday.

Fertitta, the owner of Houston-based Fertitta Entertainment Co., which operates the Landry’s restaurant chain and Golden Nugget-branded casinos, is the owner of 10.9 million shares of Wynn common stock. The filling was triggered since he holds more than 10% of the company.

In November, Fertitta surpassed Elaine Wynn, the former wife of former Wynn CEO Steve Wynn, as the company’s leading shareholder. However, his commitment to the company could further deepen as, according to Monday’s filing, Fertitta is entitled to buy 1.7 million shares at $85.73 a share by May 13.

The filling comes amid a busy time for Fertitta. The mogul, who also owns the NBA’s Houston Rockets, was nominated in January to become ambassador to Italy by President Donald Trump.

Additionally, he is seemingly forging ahead on a Las Vegas Strip project. Announced in May 2024, the unnamed project would encompass a 43-story, 2,420-room resort on 6.2 acres on the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue.

Fertitta’s investment has been described by analysts as “passive”, which would discard takeover movement in the near future. However, other experts believe Fertitta could become more active in future months, although he has yet to publicly speak about his growing wynn stake.

In the meantime, analysts have also said the stock continues to be undervalued. The company’s newest resort project, Wynn Al Marjan Island in the United Arab Emirates, is expected to not have gaming competition in the region for three to five years, offering the operator a significant first-mover advantage in the nascent UAE market.

International Game Technology (IGT) posted a decline in revenue and earnings for the fourth quarter and full year 2024, as the company prepares to merge its gaming business with Everi Holdings Inc. in a $6.3 billion deal that will see it go private.

IGT reported Q4 2024 revenue of $651 million, a 4% drop from the prior year, citing a difficult comparison with record sales in 2023. Adjusted EBITDA for the quarter declined 8% to $290 million, with margins shrinking from 46% to 44.5%. For the full year, revenue fell 1% year-over-year to $2.5 billion, while adjusted EBITDA dropped 4% to $1.17 billion.

Meanwhile, net debt was reduced from $5.2 billion to $4.8 billion, bolstered by cash flow improvements and foreign exchange gains.

In a significant year for the company, IGT announced the sale of its Gaming & Digital business to Apollo Global Management for $4.05 billion. The deal, expected to close by Q3 2025, aligns with IGT’s strategy to focus on its core lottery business.

Lottery operations continued to expand, with the company securing key contracts, including a seven-year agreement with the Colorado Lottery and a 10-year Lottery and iLottery deal in Luxembourg. Additionally, IGT extended contracts in Tennessee, North Carolina, Lithuania, Mississippi, Virginia, and Germany.

IGT’s gaming division will merge with Everi in a $6.3 billion transaction orchestrated by Apollo, which will result in the combined company going private. Former Aristocrat Gaming CEO Hector Fernandez will lead the new entity, while current IGT CEO Vince Sadusky will head the newly independent lottery division.

“2024 was a year of momentous transformation with the conclusion of our strategic review and the announced sale of our Gaming & Digital business for $4.05 billion in cash,” Sadusky said. “We are well-positioned to continue strengthening our global lottery leadership.”

IGT projects full-year revenue of $2.55 – $2.65 billion, with adjusted EBITDA ranging from $1.10 – $1.15 billion. Capital expenditures are expected to reach $450 million, driven by contract renewals and new bids.

Cash flow will be impacted by an estimated net cash outflow of $300 million, influenced by an €800 million ($850 million) Italy Lotto license fee payment.

“Our core, recurring business has a compelling low-to-mid single-digit growth profile and provides a solid foundation as we head into our next CapEx cycle,” CFO Max Chiara said.

As the company transitions, Sadusky emphasized that preparations for the merger and spin-off are well underway. “We’ve done the internal work on separation, so we feel very confident about being prepared for day one,” he stated.

Step through the doors of the Las Vegas Continental in this immersive adventure. where your bets have real consequences. The John Wick Experience is set to open February 28th.

Zoox is a company that provides a driver-less cab service, and they are currently testing their vehicles on the streets of San Francisco. Unlike similar vehicles, Zoox cabs are purpose built and don’t even have a steering wheel. The Amazon owned company says that their robo-taxis should be prowling the strip before the end of 2025.

In a major regulatory move on Monday, the Texas Lottery Commission announced plans to ban lottery ticket courier services, a decision prompted by a recent $83.5 million jackpot win that has raised concerns among state officials.

Executive Director Ryan Mindell stated that under Texas law, these courier services companies, which accept lottery orders via apps or websites and then purchase tickets from licensed retailers, are not permitted to operate within the state.

In a policy statement, Mindell explained: “Unregulated courier operations provide opportunities for other illegal and fraudulent activities to flourish, including money laundering, the sale of fictitious tickets, and false representations of a courier’s association with the TLC. If couriers are allowed to continue to operate, these critical safeguards will continue to be circumvented and the public will be harmed.”

The new directive marks a sharp reversal from Mindell’s earlier testimony at the Senate Appropriations Committee, where he maintained that the commission lacked the authority to regulate online sales or shut down courier operations. Now, the agency intends to propose rule amendments at an open meeting scheduled for March 4, with a 30-day public comment period to follow.

The policy decision comes in the wake of an investigation launched by Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick following the controversial sale of the winning ticket at a North Austin store. Patrick has expressed strong discontent with the commission’s actions.

He posted on social media: “Suddenly, this morning, only 6 days after I investigated a combined retail and courier operation in person that sold an $83 million winning lottery ticket last week, the Commission quickly announced they would end all courier services. I now have even less confidence in the integrity of the Lottery Commission with this abrupt turnaround.”

“The Senate passed a bill to end courier services in 2023 by a vote of 29-2, and someone convinced the House to kill it. If the Lottery Commission thinks this ends our investigation, they are wrong. I promise the people of Texas that we will restore the integrity of the Texas lottery so people can trust its fairness. Otherwise, the Senate will end the Lottery this session.” 

Representatives from the industry have also voiced their disapproval. A spokesperson for the Coalition of Texas Lottery Couriers stated: “Today’s decision by the TLC to ban lottery courier services is abrupt, disappointing and unnecessary. We will continue to encourage a regulatory solution, such as the one proposed by HB 3201, which allows our millions of Texas customers to continue to safely and conveniently order lottery tickets using our services.”

The controversy over courier services has been compounded by recent state hearings, during which testimony highlighted past lapses in oversight and risky practices within the Texas Lottery. Critics pointed to the agency’s failure to regulate bulk lottery ticket purchases and noted that previous operations by former executives had operated in legal gray areas. Concerns persist that these issues may jeopardize the lottery’s significant contribution to education funding.

In a related development, Governor Greg Abbott directed the Texas Rangers to investigate both the recent $83.5 million win and a 2023 incident where a bulk purchase of lottery tickets resulted in a $95 million jackpot win.

“Texans must be able to trust in our state’s lottery system and know that the lottery is conducted with integrity and lawfully. Today, I directed the Texas Rangers to fully investigate these incidents and identify any potential wrongdoing. Texans deserve a lottery that is fair and transparent for everyone,” Abbott said.

Current tenants include Abercrombie & Fitch, Pandora, Adidas, In-N-Out Burger, and Puma. The opening will happen in stages from March to May, with more stores opening up through 2026. The complex will also feature a 120,000 square-foot food court and a rooftop area.

The rooftop area will also be able to host special events and/or performances. Plus there’s The Overlook, which is a small benched area, located right above Las Vegas Boulevard, which is expected to be a popular selfie spot. You can see more about this project when you visit the official website.

Gindi Capital, a New York-based real estate investment and development firm, owns BLVD Las Vegas, which was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Construction resumed in 2023, and the first tenant moved in a few months ago, ahead of the official opening.
