After 23 starting flights over the past two weeks, tonight’s the night! The biggest event in online poker history, the 2020 WSOP Online Main Event on GGPoker, will see a field of 1,171 survivors return for Day 2 of this unique tournament.
Incredibly, not only was the $25,000,000 guarantee met but smashed as well in the process. A total of 5,802 players signed up for this event, creating a total prize pool of $27,559,500 in the process. There will be 728 players finishing in the money, with a min-cash worth $11,834.

On Sunday, Aug. 30, at 6:30 p.m. UTC, the field will play down to 40 players before hard-stopping for the day. Then, on Saturday, Sept. 5, they’ll return to play down to an eventual champion.
That winner will see their name being etched in history books: not only will they receive a WSOP gold bracelet, they’re also set to claim $3,904,686 as a first-place prize. Needless to say, it’s by far the biggest prize ever awarded in online poker.
Who’s Pacing the Field?
After 23 starting flights, a field of 5,802 players has been whittled down to 1,171 hopefuls, leaving the field a little over 400 spots off the money. Each player was allowed a maximum of three bullets in this event, and along the way, players such as GGPoker ambassadors Daniel Negreanu and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier fired the allowed three shells but came up short each time.
Leading the way after 23 flights is none other than Aussie high roller Kahle Burns. Burns amassed 1,387,282 on Day 1L, enough to claim a sizable lead over his nearest challenger Jonathan “Serenity” Dokler, who won the first bracelet of this year’s WSOP on WSOP.com all the way back in early July.
