M

acau casino workers will be mandated to use health masks for another six months, a Health Bureau order published in Official Gazette states.

The measure further extends a Chief Executive order imposed on January 22 as part of Covid-19 prevention efforts and had been valid initially for one month. The order was then extended in monthly increments until September 22. The new deadline is now March 22, 2021. Entry restrictions between Macau and Mainland China have been gradually eased, with the issuing of individual visas for residents in all Mainland China provinces reinstated on Wednesday.

As the October Golden Week holiday period nears (October 1-8), visitor arrivals in the city are expected to register an uptick, with the Macau Special Administrative Region having not reported new Covid-19 cases for more than 80 consecutive days.

Currently, anyone wanting to enter local casinos is required to provide a nucleic acid test certificate proving freedom from Covid-19 infection, in addition to the existing requirements of undergoing a body-temperature check, and presenting a ‘green’ Health Code result.
